What do you make of this? http://tinyurl.com/3helh Peak gust [mph]: Jan 12 2004 Bridlington 114 mph Jersey AP 66 mph Lerwick 58 mph Copy of a reply to yesterday's question asking the same: Another coding error :-) In the SYNOP code gusts are entered as 911xx where xx is the gust in knots. Bridlington's 06Z SYNOP had 91199 ... the observer may have left in a default group by accident (99 is often used as a default) or just possibly he/she thought it meant 'not available'. Anyway, 99 knots converts to 114 mph ... hence the error. Philip Eden |
