OK I put my hands up and say I WAS WRONG to emphasise the severe weather

so
much.

Would I do it again given the same evidence - probably.

No apology necessary Will - *you* don't cost £450m a year to run

Good on you Will, at least we all still have our fences and roof tiles
in tact :-)

We now move onto the next show, whatever that may be :-)

Will,

As others have said, there is no need to apologise. It is incidents like
this that make the weather exciting. If predictions were simple and able
to be guaranteed, I suspect that a lot of folks would stop taking such
an interest in the weather.

Forget yesterday and move on. As I type this, the wind is picking up
with a maximum gust of 33.8 mph. The barometer is dropping at about 3mb
per hour and now reads 987mb. The temperature is also rising and is now
at 8.9C. (guess who now has a weather station g)

I haven't time to read all the responses but I imagine they all say pretty
much the same. Yes the forecast was wrong, but it was a good forecast given
what you knew and your skill to interpret it. We were all happy to accept it
then. Nevertheless to admit it was wrong helps us understand how difficult
it can be at times and we wish sometimes others would use the W word rather
than pretend it didn't happen.

Thanks, keep up the good work,

Dave

OK I put my hands up and say I WAS WRONG to emphasise the severe weather

so
much.

Would I do it again given the same evidence - probably.

The evidence was there, it tracked further south, the jet wasn't quite as

strong
as expected, further details not in evidence, eg. lack of clear water

vapour dry
slot yesterday evening prob implying later deepening. GFS did well, but
hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I made a mistake and I'll make many more no doubt, but I'll still get more

right
than wrong !

Humbling cheers,

Will.
