It is exactly the same paper as used before - it is purchased in advance.
Also
the same printers. However, such aspects of the journal are always under
review. The decision to change format was made by RMS Council with the
support
of the Weather Board.

Thanks for your reply, Julian. Although you must be right that the

paper
is the same (I've just had a comparative "feel") the larger size makes it

feel
more flimsy, just as a one-foot section of railway track is a rigid bar of

iron
but a 60-foot length flops all over the place. For this reason I think it

will
be more difficult to store (I look at my old Weathers quite a lot) without
deterioration, and as far as I am concerned the old format was quite OK.

Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey.

If I had any complaints at all about the new format, that is I thought
it felt just a bit more flimsy than the other format. Is there any chance I
wonder if the paper can be made just a fraction thicker? It would surely
only have to be a fraction to restore that nice quality feel that we were
all used to.

Gavin, see the previous thread on this subject. (About 20 threads back). I
made the same comment there.
