In my view (based on a short period of doing a similar job), Philip and Bob are *the* finest broadcast meteorologists we have in this country. ![]() Rubbish, I listened to the commentary on the Liverpool v Newcastle FA cup tie in my car this evening on a perfectly ordinary analogue car radio. Five live broadcasts on Medium Wave, not even VHF FM, let alone digital. Rubbish. If you had a digital radio, you would have found a different game on a digital version, Sports Extra. Or the Tennis, or any of the other sports that 5 live neglects in its wall to wall premiershi* football coverage. Unfortunately, as for the internet, a lot of events are blanked out because of rights issues. To avoid corperate censorship, like the infamous total removal of radio news from the net during the Sydney Olympics, you need the DAB. And then there is the problem of in car listening. Now Radio 5, how about a hill conditions forecast like the one on Radio Scotland. It's sport and it's weather... Well within your remit. Richard Webb |

I suggested that, should he develop withdrawal symptoms, he'd be welcomed as a contributor here. But he said he disliked newsgroups and chatrooms. Philip Eden |
