Default Very severe weather .....Met office contradicts itself as usual

BBC 5 day forecast for London (as at Sunday evening)

Mon + 4, 0 cloudy
Tue + 5, 0 sunny intervals
Wed +4, 0 cloudy, light rain
Thu +5, +2, sunny
Fri + 8, +3 cloud

Yet text forecast for Tuesday is "Very cold with some snow likely"

Do these people ever talk to each other?

Anyway, I can guarantee no significant snow will fall in London, as we just
bought a sledge in anticipation ;-(

David

David,

As has been discussed here several times and verified by Martin Rowley,
the output on the BBC site is spurious, ignore it.

Shortwave freatures running through the N flow will be very hard to
pinpoint,
however Wednesday looks very promising for London region. Watch this
space.

Why do they bother then? If they know it's wrong then it's deliberately
misleading.

.... just had a quick look at the CEEFAX output (don't normally bother):
you certainly wouldn't get the impression of a major 'cold snap' with
high risk of snow for some places from that output (I couldn't find the
word 'snow' at a quick run-through on P406, but I may have missed one).
But as indicated above, quite frankly, unless you are looking at some
overseas holiday destination for an idea of temperature trend etc., I
wouldn't use this sort of output to plan anything critical.

Martin.
