I never thought they would look so distinct and compact! Great pictue.. Thereafter it cleared quite quickly to bright sunshine, and wind began to pick up quite briskly. We now have drifts 1 metre in the lee of walls and brows. In the last few minutes moderate snowfall with drifting again, wind about F6. Visibility has been about 100 m. No planes to mainland UK today, and ferry service to Aberdeen disrupted as well. There will be quite a backlog of passengers to clear (200 for the ferry alone), as there have been a lot of visitors & musicians in Shetland for the Up-Helly-Aa fire festival in Lerwick last night. Dancing would have been finishing at 13 venues about 07:30. Maurice |
