All afternoon, on the one day of the year they should have been
issuing weather warnings, BBC News 24 have TOTALLY ignored the weather. Now I know the Hutton Report is important but *not to the extent of ignoring the onset of severe weather probably affecting more people than any other day this Winter*. The BBC have been hammered in the Hutton Report and should now be hammered for this afternoons failure to report and warn about *important* weather News. They seem totally unable to strike the right balance. Sad, and a failure of public duty IMHO. -- Dave |

I was thinking this and how laughable all the build up to it has been - and now when maybe an iota of coverage is warranted (admittedly 2 inches of snow really shouldn't make much of a difference), nothing appears. Even the more sensationalist Sky News has nothing on it. Food for thought the media anyhow. R |

I've had to warn a taxi driver I know who's on his way to Heathrow through the South Downs - nothing on the TV. They really are bonkers. He's taken his land rover ![]() -- Dave |

Absolutely correct, although local radio stations have been quite good. This
is where a special designated Channel for Weather and traffic details etc independent from the hype on the media e.g. Hutton report or a plethora of things which cut out weather info such as Royal weddings, football matches, rugby, Olympics etc.etc. A look at the radar map this afternoon would easily had plotted the progress. I too, looked on BBC News and the weather was ignored. To be fair it is really is a news Channel and it brings me back to having a proper designated Channel. We seem to have channels for virtually everything else these days. If it was done properly it would be one of the most popular Channels- but needs to be dynamic and informative. White out here in Coulsdon with vivid lightning and thick snow cover in minutes. Ian Currie-Coulsdon www.Frostedearth.com "Dave Ludlow" wrote in message ... It's about time they toned down some of the hype anyway, which has been ludicrous for the last week or so. Some parts of the country have had some snow and temperatures have dipped below freezing...for a few days before rising into the teens again. Wow! Isn't that a small taste of what used to be called Winter? That's all!! |
