Fortunately - for the 12 year old kid turning blue with an asthamatic
attack - my service provided me with a 4x4 vehicle which allowed us to get oxygen and a nebuliser in time to save her life.... I hope you all think snow is fun. I'm sure I'm one of the few who broke a sweat in these conditions. Just making the point. |

I'm sure there were more than just a "few" who broke sweat in these
conditions - I doubt if you are in the minority.. Paul "Dougie" wrote in message ... Dougie, it is a point well made and I am sure everyone here sympathises with
that view. First and foremost I hope the child is ok and anyone else who has suffered in this weather. That aspect of this weather is sad. Unfortunately the weather will happen whatever we think and like most things in life we like to put the unsavoury parts to the back of our minds. I am sure that there will be elderly suffering from heatstroke in a hot summer but people will still celebrate the sun and the fun things it brings. Believe me, most , if not all people here understand where you are coming from, though, and would spare a thought for that child. kind regards, Dave. "Dougie" wrote in message ... I don't believe it correct to place an emotion such as that on people for
their enjoyment of a natural event. They have not choosen that enjoyment in preference to this childs suffering. Merely admiring nature. I am sure all that post here would hope the child is well, as we do with any person's injured or suffering in the current conditions. "Dougie" wrote in message ... Dougie says...
my service provided me with a 4x4 vehicle which allowed us to get oxygen and a nebuliser in time to save her life... WTG "your service"..!!! (Did us taxpayers pay for it, or was it private?) I hope you all think snow is fun. Yep... I spent quite a while in the great snowball fight of '04. Not only as back-up for 10 & 14 yr old daughters, but also to reaffirm my postion as snowball champ of my cul-de-sac. I'm sure I'm one of the few who broke a sweat in these conditions. ....And me too. Crikey, it's so long since we had snow, I'm well out of practise :-) Just making the point. Point taken, although I'm sure a similar situation will arise next time we experience severe weather conditions, be they hot, cold, wet, windy, dry, whatever.... During which, a number of people on here will probably be jumping up and down like schoolboys/girls. I for one enjoyed today's snow, along with my kids, along with quite a few neighbours and their kids. People were out playing in the street. People were talking to people that they haven't spoken to for ages, and probably wont speak to again for ages. Making polite conversation with strangers... So yes, in answer to your question... I'm happy now. Kevin |

I asked...
(Did us taxpayers pay for it, or was it private?) If I could, I'd take that back and rephrase it... But I can't. Not sure what I was trying to ask, or what point I was trying to make. Something along the lines of "how wonderful our emergency services are". Apologies in advance. Kevin |

![]() I agree, whilst we would all have sympathies with the girl, this is not the place to post the somewhat childish sentiment of "Hope your happy now........" Do you include this last summers heat? Or midwest US stormchasers? The Woods Hole Institute for flooding events? The B.A.S. for melting ice shelves? All these things bring misery and suffering around the globe... but it's here, on this remarkable day of changing weather, you choose to take cheap emotional potshots. Just because Mt. St.Helens killed, it still leaves a sense of awe and wonder within me. It's these feelings that drive vulcanologists to understand volcanoes, and as we know, an understanding of the science behind events enables us to predict and perhaps save lives. The weather is no different. If it wasn't for people who wonder and marvel at the weather, who are interested and exited by it, we would never have the science and information to give you the warning you had of this cold spell. How many peoples interest is fired by this newsgroup that may, either as proffesionals or amateurs, contribute to the honing of forcasting and lead to better and more accurate warnings? As with all the scientists i have ever read about, talked to.. it is their wonder, their childish exitement, their interest and curiosity that keeps them in their work. This newsgroup expresses all these emotions very well. I can see no reason to be sorry for the way we are.........
