Anyone see Ceefax weather P 403. Talk of strong north winds and snow. I did
not take it too seriously. It is hard to do that at the moment.
No one has mentioned this at all. It is not on Darren's runs either.

I did question on the 29th January whether something like this was likely
for this weekend:

Under the heading "Post Mortems (and Next Saturday?) I said:

"Looking beyond the imminent return of more "normal" winter weather, I'm
no
expert, but doesn't next Saturday's chart (7th Feb) look interesting? see:
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/avnpanel1.html

"I appreciate that it's a long way off in forecasting terms, but we maybe
shouldn't write the winter off yet?"

Well blizzards were mentioned on the 18:55 broadcast (admittedly for
Scotland).

It's been well signalled on the charts,

also have a flick through the GFS for Saturday and Sunday,

Quite a week all things considered.

Useful charts - never seen these. Just need the 1000-850mb thickness fx and
would be perfect.

Trevor,

Go to

http://www.arl.noaa.gov/ready/cmet.html

Type in your lat/long then select Interactive Maps. The rest is fairly
self-explanatory. Amongst many other things you can get 1000-850mb
thickness progs based on the GFS model.
