I have no experience of the La Crosse but the silly little propellor type anemometer puts me off. Looks far to easy to get bunged up with snow and to get accurate readings has to face directly into the wind at all times. Cups win on both those counts. -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |

Well its on sale for £69 at an local shop and have been looking for a
replacement station with wind speed. Just wondered how La Crosse compared with Davis stations. As has been identified elsewhere within the thread the anenometer is a bit of a joke. I guess it would be fine if you could find the exact correct spot, but I've seen it whizzing round and then checked the reading which shows force 2! There is a half degree difference between the readings on my Oregon, and even this variance varies from time to time (although no saying that the Oregon is not the problem!). Having said that though, it's a chunky piece of kit with dew points etc. I've never been able to synchronise the time with Frankfurt as is supposed to happen. I did this review for TWO, but in retrospect I was quite generous, having had it for only a few days at the time. http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/oth....asp?product=5 It's not expensive, though, so I guess as ever it's a balance between quality and cost. Hope that's of at least some assistance ![]() |
