Default 12Z Model Summary - Friday 06th February 2004

High pressure (1035mb) lies over Central Europe. Low pressure (two
centres of 980mb) lies in the Atlantic to the west of Iceland. Winds
across the country are fresh to strong west/southwesterlies in many
areas. Most areas will be mainly cloudy, but with some brightness.
Temperatures will be close to or just above normal. Beyond this
conditions are mostly mild and rather settled in many parts as high
pressure tries to build in from the southeast.

will be mainly cloudy but dry. 850hpa temperatures are close to +3C in
many areas. Forecast 2m temperatures range from +8C in the east to
+11C in the west. Beyond this conditions are mild, with most of the
unsettled weather restricted to the northwest.

France where another centre (1030mb) lies. Low pressure (970mb) lies
to the west of Iceland in the Atlantic. Winds across the country are
light to moderate west/southwesterlies in most places. Most areas will
see mostly dry and bright conditions. 850hpa temperatures are close to
0C in many parts. Temperatures will be close to normal in most areas.
Beyond this there is little change with most of the unsettled weather
in the northwest.

(974mb) lies to the west/southwest of Iceland out in the Atlantic.
High pressure lies over Europe and ridges into Southwest Britain.
Winds across the country are mainly light to moderate west/h
northwesterlies. Many areas will see a fine day with plenty of
sunshine. Temperatures will be close to or just below normal in many
areas.

Summary:
A mostly mild week next week looks likely after a cold snap over the
coming weekend, but many areas look like being rather settled, with
only the northwest seeing the more unsettled conditions.
