I was just tidying up my weather links and happened to click on Bill Giles
90 day outlook. The BBC weather centre have finally decided not to update this feature anymore and just provide a link instead. Have they finally realised what a complete load of crap his forecasts were. First of all he originally forecasted an extremely cold January but then decided to change his mind to very mild. Likewise with February, he was forecasting the coldest spell of winter around the 15th of the month but his February forecast now looks decidedly mild. I make that 1 nil to common sense. Over lunch many moons ago I strongly urged Andrew Lane, the BBC Weather Centre's manager (or whatever the title is now) that the Giles tosh should be discontinued. He agreed. That was in August 2002. I would urge him now to discontinue the link as well. Philip Eden |
