Remarked to my wife when I went out around 0745 that it seemed like a 'spring' morning more akin to late March - the birds (Chaffinch and Sparrows) were in full ' dawn-chorus ' mode in the trees: quite remarkable - cut the lawn a couple of days ago. If the GFS were to be right (see http://www.wetterzentrale.com/wz/pics/Rtavn1923.gif then some remarkable temperature possible (given sunshine &/or appropriate topography) ... but as Will has pointed out elsewhere, the GFS hasn't performed as well as some others in recent days, so not to be taken too literally. Martin. Hi Martin, It's this warm advection forecast by GFS that causes an upper ridge to form over Scandanavia, something which has been progged now for some time, as noted by Will as low confidence. Anyway, there's far more interesting things on our doorstep with this upper vortex and associated trough, something we'd pine for in an E wind in February ! ATB, Joe |

Looking at recent years, 4 out of last 7 February mean temperatures have been 2°C warmer than LTA.
