![]() Yes, every time. It provides daily archive data back to 1994 around the world. Any reason why I'm seeing it, if no one else is?! Have just gathered it may depend on your ISP. I am viewing through NTL Langley 1. |

I am viewing through NTL :Langley 1. Two or three years ago I used to be able to get at that information from http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/climatedata.html . At some point it stopped being accessible because of the WMO Resolution 40 problem. Strange that it still works via some ISPs and not others if that is so. Colin Youngs Brussels |

I thought it had shut in 2001, but this site appears to show data for the station http://meteo.infospace.ru/wcarch/htm...tn.sht?stn=245 I think it's just that they haven't updated their basic information ... I see they are still using 03534 for Birmingham airport which closed as a SYNOP station 3 or 4 years ago. The observation on the Hemsby page is probably Coltishall (03495), and for Birmingham it's undoubtedly Coleshill (03535). Its not Coltishall (or any other local station I can find) as the data does not match the Coltishall data available here http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/res...imvisgsod.html I have to say I am completely stumped. I've gone extracted data for the last three weeks, compared them to all available stations in the area, and there's no match. But the figures look entirely realistic for somewhere in east Norfolk. Doesn't seem to be a Wunderground station in the area either. I suppose it might be one of the USAF bases in East Anglia but I don't think they go to the bother of recording sunshine, etc. All the other sites they report seem to be standard synoptic stations, so I'm baffled. If you put the map coordinates into Autoroute it comes up in the middle of a
field! Between the villages of St Margaret South Elmham & Saint Michael South Elmham, south west of Bungay. Nowhere near Hemsby PKH "Philip Eden" philipATweatherHYPHENukDOTcom wrote in message .. . Yeah, I've been aware of this site for some time - I'm not sure where
they are getting some of these decoded synops from, some readings are listed for places I have yet to see a synop message from, such as Equatorial Guinea. Perhaps they are decoded METARs.A few of these local readings are quite suspect - I saw one on this RU site the other day that came from Jan Mayen, Norway and listed the min temp at -17C when the actual synop gave -1C for the low, the temp. had not even come close to -17C anytime around the date shown. |
