Somehow I have it in my head that the UK has the most tornadoes in the
world per unit area. I think it is something a weatherforecaster on the beeb said. This true? http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/weather/d...ornadoes.shtml -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |

Sorry wrong link: http://www-das.uwyo.edu/~geerts/cwx/...nado_clim.html http://www.torro.org.uk/severeweather/tornadofaqs.htm (note: the highest number of *reported* tornadoes!) It's also based on using a low estimate (1960-1990, I believe) of US tornadoes of 800 per year. The number's more like 1200. It also ignores the fact that from the Rockies west and in Alaska, there are very few tornadoes. Bart Geerts (in the Wyoming link) does the calculation based on just Oklahoma and Kansas.
