writes Isn't "haar" the Scottish term and "fret" the north-east England one? In other words, I think they are different areas' terms for the same phenomenon. I can only assume this is the case. The Look North weather presenter used both terms. We've had a very hazy overcast day here today, with the sun just getting through late in the day.
