Where have you been hiding?
Earthquake prediction [HN5-7] is usually defined as the specification of the time, location, and magnitude [HN8-9] of a future earthquake within stated limits. Prediction would have to be reliable (few false alarms and few failures) and accurate (small ranges of uncertainty in space, time, and magnitude) to justify the cost of response. Previous Perspectives in Science may have given a favorable impression of prediction research, and the news media and some optimistic scientists encourage the belief that earthquakes can be predicted (1). Recent research suggests to us that this belief is incorrect. http://scec.ess.ucla.edu/~ykagan/perspective.html Depending on their remit they seem to have situated themselves in a groove that can only support their theory. Not very scientific, what? Remind me, what is space time? I keep forgetting. -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |

Anyone know off hand, the cyclical nature of equinoctuals in the UK? Yup, they happen every six months ![]() Let me rephrase that: How often do equinoctual storms occur in the UK? We didn't have the winter solstice one this (last) year. I wonder if there is something in that? Mind you didn't Norway or someplace handy host the regular Christmas Shipwreck? I suppose even Panamanians keep their eyes open sometimes. (Lucky they closed them again when they left UK waters.) -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |

So, did global warming happen then? Col -- Bolton, Lancashire. 160m asl. http://www.reddwarfer.btinternet.co.uk Nah. Like hell it did! The Arctic ice reached Ice land in the late winter off 2045. The folks of the islands Tuvalu are asking for compensation to build specialised cable cars to help them get down to the sea!!! Metcheque are predicting a very hot summer for 2046. Will has moved to a high rise in Salford, finally realising he hates open spaces! Matt Hugo started to shave. Big shock for all. The group discover that Colin Youngs has really been living in Clapham for the past 47 years. Jack finally got his pilots license. Due to genetic treatment now available in a NHS call centre in Bangaloor, Tudor knocks 80 years of his age and joins a 'boy weather group' (matt had to leave due to facial hair) Neil Green decided in 2039, that it was time to move out from Mum and Dads and see the big wide world- he leaves Whitstable and moves to Herne Bay. Another shock for the group in 2042 when its discovered that Darren Prescott's dog has been doing the "today's models interpretations" since they started back in 2000 (very old dog). Gary Sarre wins the Nobel prize for the advancement of the Science of Meteorology. Brian Gaze who adopted Gary 45 years ago said "I'm was so confident about that boy, I was so confident about that boy etc etc etc.... Michael McNeil fufills a life long ambition and become one of the first constuction engineers to help colonize the Moon. Whilst inadvertantly using high explosing to lay foundations, he causes 6 weeks of heavy rain in Woking! Philip Eden finally gets the high-profile post he was yearning for and is now the resident forecaster for the Daily Sport. When I gather more up to date info I'll let you know. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Don't ask me.
Since I don't understand the concept of space time -never mind the choice of values for it, you can hardly expect me to believe in any of that sort of codswallop can you? -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |
