Excellent IR Satpic from Dundee...frontal zone well shown. Surprising
amount of 'cloud' over England and Wales - or is it just temperature
contrasts ! Displaced coastlines look strange.
May have to register to view it !!

Just the temperatures contrasts as far I can tell, John. There was a fair
bit of low ST/Fog in the SE at first but otherwise virtually clear.

Friday

Just mention in passing that the gliding boys had a good day in the area to
the south east of the frontal zone.

But was puzzling was that between the area of small cumulus in the SE and
the upper frontal cloud in the northwest, there were blue skies with no
discernable cumulus at all. This caused a few headaches for the gliders.
They had of course wisely kept well clear of the top cover from the front
further to the northwest.

Presumably the area of blue skies was caused by a lower inversion here -
that was not a detail that I had been able to forecast.
