Yes Rodney, I was driving on the M25 near Riegate at about 2230 GMT, and
went through some heavy rain. Over a distance of about a mile, the sound of the rain on the windscreen became markedly louder, and I wondered if there was hail, but I could also see the tell-tale splodges of recently melted or partially melted snow. Mind you, I think that the road is about 700ft ASL there. -- Bernard Burton Wokingham, Berkshire, UK. Satellite images at: www.btinternet.com/~wokingham.weather/wwp.html "Rodney Blackall" wrote in message ... After a very cold and wet afternoon in Rutland, we were driving home near Uppingham when I thought I saw the characteristic splodges of sleet on the windscreen - but I could not be sure from my position at the back of a rather full "people carrier". A short time later the driver reported that the indicated outside temperature was 5 (I don't know how accurate). Anyone else see sleet today (Sunday 18th)? -- Rodney Blackall (retired meteorologist) Buckingham, ENGLAND Using Acorn SA-RPC OS 4.02 with ANT INS and Pluto 3.03h |
