Default 06z and 18z Ascents?

Hi All,

Anyone any idea what happened to the 06z and 18z ascent data for the UK? I
know that this hasn't been available for some time, but wonder if there is
any official line on this? Are the ascents still made at these times or are
we now down to just 00z and 12z ascents?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Simon

.... for the main network (Lerwick, Watnall etc.), these were withdrawn
some time ago to cut costs.

The Larkhill ascent is probably basically for Army use. Temp and wind data
are needed for long-range artillery firing .... remember the days with the
big slide-rule...
