By "freak thunderstorm" or as it says on the link on the main Sky News page
a "flash thunderstorm" (!?)
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0...072296,00.html

More freakiness to come from the look of things at the mo.

Jon.

Freakstorm (sic) here, too. About 2 mm rain, at a guess, and several
feeble rumbles of thunder. I expect we could get some more freakstorms
tomorrow as well.

It's hardly new, Martin. When I worked at BP Research in the 70's my
colleagues all knew of my interest in weather and if it looked a bit thundery
they would ask, as a facetious catchphrase, "freak storm, Mr Hughes?" to which
the reply would be something like "yeah, possibly, Mr So-and-so".
Alas, the newspapers - what can we do?

Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey.

.... it was the way it was *typed*: as one word (i.e. 'Freakstorm') that
I was amused by ... quite a useful word for your smiling, sexy,
sizzling, soaraway Sun ;-)

Martin.
