Okay Neil's comments were somewhat misjudged. He made a joke comparing D-day
to the Black Death. The point being how far back do we go? Many on this group would admit to liking 'Monty Python' is that fair comment? Yet how irreverent was their humour? I recently saw some scenes from the "Meaning of Life" Christ did they take the proverbial out of English troops. Okay Neil was daft with that comment. If truth be known I wouls go as far to say that despite the sacrificial heroics on all fronts it was the Russians who actually won world war 2. Four of the five German divisions were in the Soviet Union! Hey go do the math! |

Not misjudged - I'd use the following words - insensitive, offending, etc
etc. I think he should appologise or post elsewhere. Mark. "Lawrence Jenkins" wrote in message ... Okay Neil's comments were somewhat misjudged. He made a joke comparing D-day to the Black Death. Churchill praised "the great warrior Stalin". Well, that's war for you. Hey go do the math! Didn't know you were a Yank, though, Lawrence. Tudor Hughes. |

I think my response was "misjudged" I do not take anything away from the extraodinary bravery that was shown that day. We'd be far better served as to analyse what led to such a dire situation. Human history an unconcious zig-zag of good and bad. Just ask the irish about Cromwell? |
