Very different from the gusty winds and driving drizzle I had for a time this morning. Where did that come from? I don't know! It was forecast to be bright first thing, then cloud over with the possibility of some drizzle by evening. Not a good forecast ![]() Col -- Bolton, Lancashire. 160m asl. http://www.reddwarfer.btinternet.co.uk |

Hi Norman, last night we had a near gale up here in Haytor. Internal doors were banging due to windows being open and the mature trees were swaying and rustling loudly. Very warm too with a min of 14.1 deg C compared to just 8.0 deg C on the 13th and 13.0 on the 14th. Still managed to get to sleep though as it all sounded rather nice ! Regards Paul I'm based at Southampton and these high temperatures in the last couple of days have surprised me - it didn't feel anything like that warm. My estimation would have been Sunday 21c, Monday 23c, Tuesday 23c. I can only guess that low humidity has made it feel a good deal less hot than the temperatures indicate. The first 10 days of the month actually felt significantly warmer - and were more humid. Nick |

Regards Paul My mum (near Christchurch) was 'moaning' about the heat too recently and she's not normally one to complain about hot weather. It's been uncomfortably hot (at least for me) down here too. I was getting 28°C again on the car gauge this afternoon around Tiverton; not a good day to restart my tennis career.. ;-p Barring the odd hiccup we seem to have had a prolonged period of dry, fine weather down here since the beginning of May, almost continental in feel. Anyway, I've had enough of it; bring on the thundery northerlies ! Jon. (from the scorched wastelands of east Devon) |

Regards Paul Barring the odd hiccup we seem to have had a prolonged period of dry, fine weather down here since the beginning of May, almost continental in feel. Hasn't been that noticeable to me, true it's been often dry and fine, but it is early summer after all! There have been short wet periods, the first 10 days or so of May, and around the May bank holiday, and even the rest of the time some days have been cloudy. The persistent cold, wet Mays of 2002 and 2003 - now they I would call unusual... Nick |
