Yesterday it looked as if we might be to the west of the worst weather, as
the rain pushed north just to the east of us. But yesterday evening as the rain edged west it became very stormy on the western edge of the front. I recorded 49mph gust, a new record for July (my records start 1991) It was a northerly gale, so Penzance is relatively sheltered. Many spots in west Cornwall exceeded 60mph (59knots at Culdrose). Lizard lifeboat was out all night, it must have been horrendous. 39.6mm rain from 15:00 yesterday until 09:00 today. -- Graham Penzance |
