Chef! writes: Now I am confused. I sometimes refer to www.metcheck.com. Their 7-day forecast predicts rainfall to the nearest mm, windspeed to +/- 1 mph, pressure to the nearest mb, cloud cover to +/-1%. Does that mean that they are reporting figures to a spurious degree of accuracy or are their predictions really that accurate for the weather 7 days from now? The former. You can't achieve that degree of accuracy for a one-day forecast, never mind seven days. -- John Hall "Home is heaven and orgies are vile, But you *need* an orgy, once in a while." A 3 week forecast as good as we can currently do 3 days? Oh I think he would, assuming he went private and didn't work selflessly for the greater good in the Met Office ![]() I'm giving trends that can be used in agriculture and land management planning 10 or 20 years in advance. It gives warnings of super-typhoons and serious earth-quakes too. I can't give it away free. No-one wants to know. Who'd pay for it in that case? -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |
