Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Monday. Issued 0607z,
15/07/04. Today's runs show high pressure dominating the UK for the middle of next week, with increasingly warm and settled weather especially for England and Wales. ECMWF: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Recm1201.gif A ridge covers England and Wales, with SW'lies elsewhere. By T+144 the ridge becomes a high over Denmark, leading to light winds for England and Wales. Elsewhere winds are SSW'lies and SW'lies and much the same is true at T+168. MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.html The Met Office run shows the sandwiched between a high to the east and a low to the west, resulting in light southerlies. By T+144 high pressure builds over all areas except Ireland, which lies under southerlies. GFS: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Rtavn1201.gif The UK lies under SW'lies, due to a low to the WNW and a ridge over England. 850 hPa temperatures range from +3C over northern Scotland to +5C over SE England. The winds become southerlies for all at T+144 as the low fills to the west, followed by lighter SSE'lies and southerlies at T+168. By day 8 the remnants of the low lie to the west of Scotland, with WSW'lies for most. The low deepens again to the north on day 9, with high pressure moving northwards over England and Wales. Winds are westerlies as a result, followed by variable winds for many on day 10 as the high builds across the UK. GEM: http://www.meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html The Canadian run shows a high to the SW bringing WNW'lies and westerlies over the UK. 850hPa temperatures vary from +1C over northern Scotland to +6C over SE England. The high builds to the south of Ireland at T+144, with westerlies and northerlies for the UK. JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.html Westerlies cover the UK, with high pressure over southern England. 850hPa temperatures range from +1C over northern Scotland to +5C over southern England. The winds become easterlies and SE'lies at T+144 as the high builds to the ENE, followed by more of the same on day 7. By then the high lies to the NE of Scotland and it continues moving NE'wards on day 8. The UK still lies under SE'lies and easterlies, with a trough slowly moving NE'wards towards the UK. |

What, no more runs needed - is this definitive then? ![]() -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |
