I have some ex Met office Fineman reflecting nephoscopes, and would
like to know how to use them. Finding the direction of the clouds is obvious. However the purpose of the rising pointer is not clear, is it to determine the height of the clouds, or the speed? What does the scale on the pointer mean? Is there somewhere on the WWW with instructions? |

Is there somewhere on the WWW with instructions? .... the instructions for use of the instrument, and the tables required to compute the results, are contained in the Observer's Handbook (Meteorological Office / HMSO). If you can't get anywhere, let me know and I can send you a copy of the instructions: there are only 2 pages and the table so nothing too weighty.
