Mean monthly sea-level pressure showed a low of
1007mbar west of Iceland, a weak low 1011mbar over central Sweden, a high 1025 mbar just west of the Azores, and a high 1019 mbar in the Russian Arctic. This last feature aside, the pattern was very close to normal over the Atlantic/Europe sector. Compared with 1961-90, mean pressure was within 2 mbar of normal across most of Europe and the adjacent Atlantic. The main anomaly centres lay over the Arctic Basin and Canada, with +3 mbar over Nova Scotia and Newf'dland, -5mbar over northwest Greenland, and +6mbar near Novaya Zemblya. The anomalous flow over the British Isles was ill-defined ... weakly southerly over Scotland and weakly WNW-ly over Ireland, England and Wales.
