Default storm out of nowhere!!.,..near Oxford!

12 miles south of oxford

11.00 am, just a few clouds, nothing on the radar at all, and nothing
showing anywhere over the south.
12.00 am, big thunderstorm, raining heavily, thunder and lightning .

latest radar, 12.00 hrs now shows the heavy rain areas.
Amazing how these things can appear out of nowhere!.

I guess this is what the weather people call a 'home brewed storm'?

anyone else got any reports of this storm?

Mike

Didcot power station (12 miles S of Oxford) often produces pyrocumulus - I
wonder if it could assist in more vigourous convection?

They appear to be erupting out of nowhere, then rapidly decaying again.
Nothing like Tuesday!

Hi Keith,
15 min radar is available from the following at a cost I'm afraid with no
real local coverage.

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk
http://www.metoffice.com/aviation/index.html
http://www.avbrief.co.uk

best regards,
Alan

Well, we had a second storm at about 18.00 hrs, torrential rain, loads of
thunder and lighting, and the wind was really strong for a short while.
