Thunder and Lightning for past hour, sky dark and whizzing past SE. Heavy
rain bouncing 6 inches high off the top of my screen. We are bathed in a yellow light that is making the greens appear very green. I am stuck in my wee office, even the housemartins have called it quits and have headed back to the nests. brian aberfeldy highland perthshire |

I have just come in from sitting in the garden because it's too hot to sit anywhere else - there is a brisk breeze outside keeping things bearable. But it's clouding over from your direction so I expect it will arrive here later today. Anne Fochabers (about 75 miles north-east of Aberfeldy as the crow flies) |

Greetings to the fine town of Aberfeldy, (was on holiday with a bike in the
area, in somewhat finer weather two weeks ago). East Leeds now getting major deluge, no thunder as yet. There will be some interesting rainfall totals today I think! As a point of interest, are there any parallels with todays situation from the past? - bearing in mind Tropical Storm Alex and the warm huimd SE-ly from Europe. Currently, RH 100%, temperature 19.0°C, wind light northerly. We had to drive into Glasgow this morning to replace Lesley's blown modem and the driving was mildly adventurous to say the least! I've long held a theory that the flat floor of Glen Fruin is an ancient lake bed. Today it is. -- Alan White Twenty-eight miles NW of Glasgow. Alan White I thought the Glen Fruin road was always mildly adventurous, even without a revived loch! Still no sign of rain here, but the sky is a uniform white now. I am wondering how changing weather can manage to come in from the west into the teeth of such a strong easterly wind however. Anne Fochabers |

Ah yes - not unlike those same easterlies which drove our fog into the sea in an umm eastwards umm ..... |

It made a good start and end to the day to negate the bit in the middle! These days we use the 'new' road which was built for the Trident construction project at Faslane and Coulport. -- Alan White Twenty-eight miles NW of Glasgow.
