12/08/04 1800

Well what a day !

Torrential rain yesterday evening, fog and drizzle this morning then fine for a
time then showers and rumbles of thunder and then thunderstorms visible just to
the east over Newton Abbot this afternoon. Reports on the radio of serious
flooding in Newton Abbot/Kingsteignton causing traffic snarl ups and reportedly
parts of Plymouth collected 4 inches of rain causing flooding. Still storms
visible in the distance.

Locally no problems of course as it all runs away. My stream quickly disappeared
leaving a trail in the gravel.

More recently awesome lightning stroke over Liverton at 1716 local and loud
booming thunder from a massive cunim just to the SE of me. I had just gone
outside and it literally made me jump it was like a rifle shot.

Who said Devon doesn't get storms ? :-)

Total rainfall in the 24 hours up to 1800 today - 60.0 mm

Will.
