Hours of heavy rain in the extreme NW and north of the Netherlands on
Thursday night led to very high rainfall totals and some flooding problems. Rainfall radar http://weerkamer.nl/weer/radar/?uur=24 Most of the province of Friesland in the NW had 25 to 40 mm rain - in the area north and east of Harlingen on the NW coast through Leeuwarden to Groningen some places reported 80 to 100 mm and in the area round Emmeloord on the east side of the IJsselmeer about 85 mm fell. Some totals in 24 hours to 18z on Friday: KNMI sites - Hoorn on Terschelling 41 mm, Groningen-Eelde 52 mm, Leeuwarden 77 mm. Other sites - Harlingen 56 mm, Boijl near Heerenveen 59 mm, De Blesse SE of Heerenveen 67 mm, Appelscha near Assen 75 mm, Zuidhorn west of Groningen 82 mm, Dokkum NE of Leeuwarden 86 mm - in 72 hours 124 mm has fallen there, Anjum near the north coast 97 mm.
