Default Possible lightning in Essex?

I have witnessed a number of flashes this evening, and unsure whether it is
lightning or something else.

Sky has a heavy orange colour as often seen with nightime storms.

Nothing on sferics so if it lightning must be c-c.

Well there's a bit of moderate rain on the radar over you Tom. Perhaps this
accounts for the CB reported at Stansted ?! A quick look at the mesoscale on
the MetO aviation site shows a shower over London way at midnight GMT. Damm
clever these computers, sometimes :-)

Had the same here Tom - just as I was going to sleep - almost thought I was
dreaming it raining as it was totally unexpected !

Didn't spot any lightning flashes though.

Maybe the convergence line that was evident the other night was occuring again ?
00z sdg from 03882 wouldn't take much to send tops to the tropopause -
