Default Next week's weather prospects beginning 15/08/04

================================================== ===============

This forecast summary is my *PERSONAL OPINION* of how the weather may unfold
next week. I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from
its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for
meteorology that I personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others.

================================================== ===============

Summary valid for Sunday 15/08/04 to Saturday 21/08/04
TOI (time of issue) Saturday 14/08/04 0830 UK local time This summary is based
on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX, and ENS (NCEP ensemble)
labelled charts available from the superb http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten

High confidence that next week will continue to be unsettled with more heavy
rain in all areas at times. Generally on the warm side but turning cooler after
mid-week.

On Sunday most places will start dry and bright with just a scattering of
showers. However, heavy rain will spread up from the southwest during the
afternoon reaching all areas during Sunday night.

On Monday the rain will linger over Scotland with all other parts seeing
sunshine and showers, some heavy with hail and thunder.

On Tuesday southern and southeastern areas should have a drier interlude with
probably a very warm sunny day in the southeast. However, showers are still
likely and some could still be heavy, especially in the north but dying out
later.

During Wednesday a very deep Atlantic low will approach western areas of the
British Isles. South or southwesterly winds will increase bringing gales to
exposed coasts and hills in the south and west. Rain, some heavy, especially in
the north, will spread east during the day.

The rest of the week will then be dominated by this slow moving depression near
western Scotland with more showers or longer spells of rain, especially over
Scotland and northern England where unfortunately more flooding problems and a
renewed threat of landslides will occur.

The southeast could turn drier and warmer again later.

As always this and previous forecasts are available at

This forecast was brought to you from the now world famous meteorological office
at Haytor on Dartmoor where old fashioned values of service are alive and
thriving in the beautiful Devon countryside.

Is this tropical storm "B" (forget the name)? A weaker low labelled
"ex-Charley" moves on a similar track later in the week.
