Default TV special BBC this afternoon on Boscastle storm

Apparently, BBC News 'special' this afternoon (Tuesday) on BBC2 and
News24 on the Boscastle storm ... I *think* the time mentioned was
3.30PM but not sure about that.

Martin.

NO, got that wrong (at least according to the web site) ... it is on BBC
1 (BBC ONE) at 3.20PM

"BBC News Flood Special

BBC ONE joins News 24 for a special news report on the flash
floods in Cornwall. Followed by regional news and weather. "

Just watched it.
The usual array of reporters trying to hype it up again.
Was dramatic enough without that I think.

.... yes, didn't add to the sum of knowledge did it? Also, some forced
attempts to link it all with the climate change debate: as some have
pointed out, these events (though not always with such dramatic results)
are a feature of the West Country coastal valleys (and indeed inland).

Also they made it sound that all that mattered were the visitors who had
lost everything. They hadn't. They'd lost cars and a few possessions but
could at least return home. Some of the locals had lost everything, and seen
the village destroyed. The sea walls which had protected the boats from the
sea for generations were of no use this time. The local Coastguard had seen
his business washed away, but had to concentrate on helping others. I just
hope no-one is found in the hundred or so cars lying around.

Yep. The ITV also special tried to force the Environment minister to admit
that something could have been done to prevent it!! I wonder who they would
try to blame if we had a really large tornado event in this country. They
also did the global warming thing (via that annoying Scottish weather
forecaster who always used to try and ignore the UK during his forecasts)
AND used the term 'freak weather'. Grrrrrr.
