Hello everybody,
Typhoon Chaba has hit the southernmost parts of Japan, as this METAR from Miyazaki shows: RJFM 300000Z 13061G82KT 0500 R27/0200V0400N +SHRA FEW002 BKN005 BKN012 26/25 Q0974 For the uninitiated: Wind SE 61 kn (70 mph), gusting to 94 mph. Vis 500 metres. Heavy showers. Temp 26, Dewpoint 25. Pressure 974 mb. A later METAR shows the wind down to a mere 52 kn (61 mph) and veered SSE, but the pressure has dropped a further 4 mb. I would imagine they're still feeling a bit nervous. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |
