There's a very strange looking thin "rope" of cloud linking "Ivan" with
the African coast. See it at http://www.sat.dundee.ac.uk/pdus/AV/...31200AV1_g.jpg The "rope" is getting on for 1000 miles long. From the corresponding IR image it can be seen that it is low cloud. I suppose it is the result of convergence but it is surprisingly well-defined yet very narrow over such a long distance. Norman. "umbilical cord" from what may possibly be one very big infant hurricane!
Good picture...and that's what I thought it looked like too, Jon. This seems to be getting its act together very early. I see a regular and experienced poster on sci.geo.meteorology has gone as far as to say it will be bigger than Frances!!! That's looking at a Cat 5 in time. J. "Jon O'Rourke" wrote in message ...
