Fine now but....
Added [Friday September 03 2004 : 9:44:51 AM] The Atlantic really is throwing all it's energy around at the moment. Hurricane Frances is en-route to the US, Tropical Storm Ivan is the next one to watch and is expected to race across the Atlantic in the next few days. The problem for forecasters in the UK is that we all know that this energy has to go somewhere. Ex-Hurricanes have no problems blowing away blocking systems in the Atlantic such as the one building over the UK. The question isn't if, but when... once these systems complete the full loop and land on our shores in the next two weeks we'd better be ready for some real weather action. Source: Metcheck. My Comment: This happened in August, and went a long way to explain the very heavy rainfall we had. -- ************************************************** ************************** ******************************************** Gavin Staples. Even better... http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/, which if people would check, would
give a better indication and information on tracks of hurricanes and tropical storms, than some vague and ill-informed twaddle from people that should do more research before peddling spurious gossip dressed up as fact. Good day to you all. -- Rob Overfield Hull; 3m ASL http://www.astrosport02.karoo.net/YorkshireWeather/ "Gavin Staples" wrote in message ... Just seen Philip's website. ![]() ================================================== ================== This posting expresses the personal view and opinions of the author. Something which everyone on this planet should be able to do. ================================================== ================== Well said Rob. For ex-tropical disturbances to *directly* affect our weather, ie have their humidity entrained in mid-latitude depressions, the storms have to turn north before landfall in the States, otherwise their energy and latent heat release gets spent. Of course they will still affect the general circulation but by then the models will be able to handle that. What's the betting now that if it turns wet in two weeks time certain people will be saying "there I told you so", I would challenge them to produce the evidence. I would prefer to call it 'autumn'.
