Even *during* yesterday in Manchester, local weather forecasters on the news
were telling us it is fine and dry with "long periods of sunshine". I was outdoors all-day yesterday hoping to catch some rays, all I could see was hazy white skies-not blue, and then later on in the afternoon it was dull, grey and threatening rain. Fair enough, they can and do get it wrong on trying to forecast days in advance, but this is almost Monty Pythonesque ridicules. They are telling me that today will clear up to reveal the same brilliant sunshine that most of the rest of the UK is experiencing.....it doesn't look like it. You would think that modern day meteorology wouldn't allow for this kind of scope of sheer error. Oh well, they tell me it will be a beautiful weekend. I'm not gonna hold my breath. |

I was outdoors all-day yesterday hoping to catch some rays, all I could see was hazy white skies-not blue, and then later on in the afternoon it was dull, grey and threatening rain. Perhaps the cloud was quite localised and patchy then? Certainly here in Bolton it was gloriously sunny right up till early evening. I guess that wouldexplain why I reached 28.4C yesterday and Manchester only got to 26C, I'm not usually 2C warmer than Manchester. Fair enough, they can and do get it wrong on trying to forecast days in advance, but this is almost Monty Pythonesque ridicules. They are telling me that today will clear up to reveal the same brilliant sunshine that most of the rest of the UK is experiencing.....it doesn't look like it. To be fair, on this mornings local forecast Rob McElwee did say that today would be a difficult one to call as regards cloud amount. There was always going to be uncertainty as to how far it would burn back to the coast. As it happens, today was very disappointing. Only now is the cloud starting to break up, but it's still pleasantly warm at 21.6C. You would think that modern day meteorology wouldn't allow for this kind of scope of sheer error. Conditions like this are very fickle. People in the east in North Sea cloud situations get this all the time in easterlies. I wouldimagine relitively slight differences in conditions can lead to 10's of miles of difference to where the cloud burns back to. Oh well, they tell me it will be a beautiful weekend. I'm not gonna hold my breath. We should be OK. Even tomorrow should be much better. Once we lose this NW wind and pick up a SE it should be hot and sunny again.
