![]() ================================================== =============== This forecast summary is my *PERSONAL OPINION* of how the weather may unfold next week. I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for meteorology that I personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others. ================================================== =============== Summary valid for Sunday 12/09/04 to Saturday 18/09/04 TOI (time of issue) Thursday 09/09/04 2130 UK local time This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX, and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten High confidence that next week will begin wet and windy in most places but gradually turning drier and probably eventually warm and settled again in the south. On Sunday a developing Atlantic low will rush towards northern Ireland spreading rain and strong winds to western and northern areas with gales near coasts and over high ground. Eastern parts should start dry but rain will move in later in the day. Temperatures still rather warm in the south but near normal in the north. On Monday the low will move across Scotland bringing rain to all areas followed by squally showers, possibly with hail and thunder in the north. Turning colder from the north during the day. Gales for a time in exposed places, but winds should begin to ease later. On Tuesday and Wednesday winds will swing into the northwest and decrease further as the low fills and moves into the North sea. Temperatures will fall but it will turn brighter in all areas with scattered showers. Southern areas will probably turn mainly dry with sunshine on Wednesday. After Wednesday moderate confidence that Wales, the Midlands and south will turn warm and dry with sunny spells but further rain from more Atlantic fronts is likely at times in northern England, Scotland and northern Ireland where temperatures will remain near normal with moderate or fresh westerly winds. As always this and previous forecasts are available at http://www.lyneside.demon.co.uk/weeklydiscussions.htm This forecast was brought to you from the now world famous meteorological office at Haytor on Dartmoor where old fashioned values of service are alive and thriving in the beautiful Devon countryside.
