In this part of Surrey, there seemed to be quite a lot around in late
spring, when there aren't normally many, but I've seen almost none in
the last month or so.

Flies are the problem for us and we live in an urban area. Constantly have
the swot in the right hand to thrash the blighters.

No, not Cleggs. I was bitten on the leg by one in Teesdale many years
ago and will never forget it. These flies look like small, brownish
house flies and are attracted to warm blooded creatures. The dairy
farmers are complaining bitterly about them at the moment.
