Default Anyone fooled on Saturday?

Down here in central southern England, Saturday dawned sunny...seemed
the front had gone through earlier than expected. Was half thinking of
going out for the day but decided against it due to commitments...
good job too, turned out there were two frontal systems very close to
each other. No warning of the second one though... no cirrus,
cirrostratus etc, all that happened was stratus just drifted in then
it started raining. Anyone else caught out by this... (rare for it to
completely clear between two very-close together fronts...)

Nick

A split-front, Nick. It was clearly marked on the MetO's ASXX charts.

I might have been caught out, but it was accurately forecast on Radio 4
at 7:57am.

No, can't say as I was, I thought it went as expected. I travelled from
Wiltshire to EGKB for an airshow. I followed the upper front, watched it
clear and watched the weather come down to 500 FT (as reported by an
aircraft), decided it wasn't going to clear and left early. I then travelled
home through the surface front with MOD rain all along the A25 from
Westerham to the M25 J6 and then the M25 to about J10. On a mo'bike too!
(The lengths I go to to avoid having the Crimson Crabs inflicted on me).
