Now. Thunder, lightning, short bursts of heavy rain, increased wind.

Of course it has to happen when I'm downloading Macrocr*ps update to mend
security flaws...

Cheers.

Would love to, but the business software I *have* to use is Windoze based and
the support people of the companies who supply it have said they will not
support it if on a machine with Linux. The word "stuffed" comes to mind ;-)

Cheers.

p.s. Did you get the TS over at your place?

I would love to have Linux as my operating system but everytime I install
the latest Mandrake or Red Hat. it goes horribly wrong and nothing works
except the desktop (i.e., no wireless network, no broadband, no surround
sound, no dvd player, no tv player etc- a dead home theatre pc whereas xp
runs brilliantly without crashing).

One day I will crack it but until then I will have to make do with
micro****e xp pro.

It might run under WINE - or you can get embedded windows installations
(basically Windows that runs within an X Window on Linux). If you want
to give it a whirl, let me know and I'll pop round and collect/copy some
CD's.

Yes, we got the storm here - three flashes were pretty close, also some
small hail and gusty winds.

Hmm... this is awfully OT - mail me if you want a hand; i've managed to
get most of what you mention up and running - though you are right, it's
a much more hands-on process than for Windows. If you just want to get
up and running quickly, use Windows - if you want to use a taylor-made,
tight and mega fast OS, and don't mind the hard work, Linux is the best.
