Belgium on Friday

Thursday night's min. temps ranged between 14.4°C at Elsenborn at 564 m asl
in the Hautes Fagnes and 21.3°C at St Hubert at 563 m asl in the Ardennes.

Western Belgium as far as Brussels and a bit beyond started cloudy and misty
with fog in places early on. Sun broke through by 10.00 around Brussels
and the stratus and mist gradually burned back westwards. Sunny all day in
the east - a small heat thunderstorm was seen over the Ardennes in the
afternoon but no station reported any rainfall.

Places near and on the coast stayed gloomy and misty for most of the day

Friday's max. temps 20 to 22°C by the coast; 26 to 30°C inland in the west
and centre; 32 to 35°C or over in the east.

Ostend Airport 20.7°C, Koksijde 21.1°C, Ostend Pier 21.5°C, Brugge
(Bruges) 24.0°C.

Meeuwen-Gruitrode (Limburg) 34.9°C, Spa 35.0°C, Elsenborn 35.1°C,
Maasmechelen 35.4°C, Virton 37.7°C.

37.7°C at Virton - in extreme SE Belgium near the French border - again
beats the record for that site set the previous day !
