The forecast-user is responsible for his own actions at all times. --------------------------------------------------------- COOL NORTH-WESTERLY WINDS BRING SHOWERS TO THE NORTH-WEST AND HEAVY SHOWERS TO THE SOUTH-EAST AND EAST OF THE COUNTRY. BRIGHTEST WEATHER TO THE WEST AND SOUTH-WEST. GENERALLY UNSETTLED. The single map for the period 21st to 30th November, shows a depression to NW and N of Scotland. A belt of HP from W/E runs across the southern half of England. A small HP cell is visible to the W of Ireland. Some small disturbances can be seen in the HP belt over the Channel area. Winds are generally NW in the north-west of the country, turning W over the rest of the country. Winds generally lighter in the south, but stronger in the W of Scotland. 500mb top. shows a trough down the centre of Britain having upper winds from the NW over the west of the country, and SW winds over the east of the country. Showers generally over most areas except perhaps the SW and W of England. Heavy rain expected near the upper trough, especially over E and SE England. A cool airstream covers Britain on 21st. On 22nd and 23rd, the cool air collects over central and south-eastern districts, as milder air comes into SW districts and drifts along the Channel coasts. Cool air forms once again over NW Scotland on 24 and 25th, and drifts SE'wards to cover E England. Milder air comes into the SW of England on 25th and drifts eastwards on 26th. On 27th, cooler air comes into the NW and W of the country, but milder air spreads into the Channel on 28th. On 29th cooler air over the NW of Scotland spreads southwards down the west coast building a trough towards SW England and S Ireland. The run of weather starts on Sun. 21st with LP to the W of Scotland having a trough to SW Norway. Some disturbances to the SW of Britain move in the direction of SW Ireland. HP lies to the S and SE of the country. Winds are mainly W, strongest to the west of Scotland. Rain showers in the N and NW of the country, and rain showers in the Channel. On Mon. 22nd, LP to the NW of the country has a trough to a small depression over SW England. Winds are S along the North Sea coast and cool W or NW in the west of the country. Winds are strongest to the W of Scotland. Showers expected over most places but heaviest in SE England. On Tues. 23rd, LP has moved to the N or NE of Scotland HP is coming into the SW of England and pushing a small disturbance ahead of it along the Channel. Winds are cool NW in the west of the country, turning W in the east of the country. Strongest winds in the E and W of Scotland and in paarts of the Channel. Showers are expected in most places except the extreme W of the country. Heavy rain is expected over the eastern Channel. On Wed. 24th, LP to the N of Scotland. A weak belt of HP stretching W/E over central areas, and a small disturbance in the Channel expected to move NE'wards across England. Winds are W in the north, light over central areas and light E in the south of England. Winds are strongest in the SW of the country. Heavy rain expected over Scotland, showers elsewhere, but dryest over the extreme SW of England. On Thurs. 25th, LP has moved to NE Scotland. A belt of HP runs along the Channel and an area of HP to the west of Ireland moves into the SW of England. Winds are mainly W to NW over the country. Strongest winds to the W of Scotland. Heavy rain expected down the North Sea coast and rain showers expected elsewhere. On Fri. 26th, a depression comes into W Scotland with a secondary LP near S Ireland. HP is just leaving SE England for the continent. Winds are SW in the east of the country turning W in the south-west and variable in the west and north-west. NW winds could come into Ireland later. Strongest winds over the whole of Scotland and also in the W and SW of the country. Rain showers over most of the country, clearing in the extreme west. On Sat. 27th, HP from the Azores comes along the Channel and covers S, SE and E England and also the SE of Scotland. LP lies to the W of Scotland drift towards the N of Scotland.. It has a secondary depression out in the Atlantic. Winds are light in the SE of the country but are SW elsewhere. Showers over most areas, but dry in the east at first. On Sun. 28th, a belt of LP stretches from the Atlantic, across theN of Ireland to Scotland. HP over the Channel intensifies near the French coast. Winds are SW, strongest in the SW of the country. Heaviest rain over east Scotland, rain showers elsewhere. Dryest in the S and SE. On Mon. 29th, a LP area to the north and HP to the SW and SE of Britain. Winds mainly W, but light in the south. Showers in most areas. On Tues. 30th, a deep LP comes towards W Scotland. The tail-end of a HP in the Channel and S North Sea moves eastwards followed by a small depresssion coming into SW Ireland. Strongest winds over Scotland and Northern Ireland. Showers over most areas except the extreme NE of Scotland. Cheers, Keith. |
