message ... I've been following the contrast in temperatures and wind speed this week between here in the far W and NW, and places in the south east. It's been quite a persistent feature. Earlier this week we had a -1C, with London and surroundings well over 10C at night. Last night we just had an air frost yet I see one station near London was +16C at 0600 GMT (What ever did happen to the cold spell being forecast last week in the media:-)). Wind speeds here have been much lighter than across in many parts of GB, with a virtual calm last night. Hi, Mike, We seem to be right in the middle of it. Gale force SW'ly Thursday gusting to 62mph, calm Friday, then light NE'ly today. Last night's min 12C Dishforth and Topcliffe, 5C in Newcastle. Temp in Copley fluctuating wildly as the air masses change position, for example 10C+ at 0700 today, 6C at 0800. A nightmare for forecasters, but many of the forecast models for this week, issued last weekend, were pretty accurate imho. The cold air looked a lost cause for most of England even by last Saturday. Best wishes, -- Ken Cook, Copley (5miles north of Barnard Castle), County Durham. 830ft http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/copley (MO climat. site updated before 10Z and 19Z daily) kencookATcopleydurham.freeserve.co.uk (All times GMT) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. In the short term at least, it doesn't look as if there are going to be any major changes. -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 23/10/2004 11:10:01 UTC |

Mike totally unrelated to this thread but dare I ask how things are? Hi Lawrence - my family and some wonderful friends, both in real life and online, saw me through the darkest days. It is now a matter of building a new life. As my neighbour said to me, one either sinks or swims. I am going to do the latter. PS trouble is I am a non swimmer:-) PPS I always look out for your amusing posts - keep them coming. -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 23/10/2004 17:52:24 UTC |

Hello Mike once I'd posted I was anxious that I could have worded my
question with more tact. I'm glad you've responded and took it in the spirit it was meant. No doubt you've had contact privatley with some of the members of this group and I'm sure those that haven't will be touched with your sentiments. As for looking foward to my post! Blimey Mike have you spoken to your Docter? :-) "Mike Tullett" wrote in message ...
