A good view of the explosive cyclogenesis to the southwest of the UK can be
seen at: http://www.btinternet.com/~wokingham...25-b-ib-w.html Glad I am not a mariner tonight. -- Bernard Burton Wokingham, Berkshire, UK. Satellite images at: www.btinternet.com/~wokingham.weather/wwp.html |

This is a rather wonderful picture Bernard, thanks .Much detail of interest-cloud head
striations, convection ahead of the dry slot, gravity waves. The WV animations are striking as well. It's clear there's descending anticyclonic air on the southern hook of the cloud head, tho I can't find any sign of extreme winds (ie a 'Sting jet') in the available Quiksat pass. This cyclonephase diagnostic is interesting, showing how the system develops a marginal warm core as it 'bombs'- http://moe.met.fsu.edu/cyclonephase/...102600/14.html -- regards, david (add 17 to waghorne to reply) |
