Default Today's model interpretation (28/10/04)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Monday. Issued
0632z, 28/10/04.

The models are finally showing more signs of agreeing with each other - it
looks as though the bulk of the UK will see a settled spell in the middle of
next week.

ECMWF: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Recm1201.gif
High pressure covers the UK, with light winds for all. Much the same is true
at T+144, although SW'lies move over Scotland. The high builds over the UK
at T+168.

MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.html
England and Wales lie under a ridge, with SW'lies elsewhere. The ridge
builds over the UK at T+144 with westerlies for northern areas and
easterlies for southern areas.

GFS: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Rtavn1201.gif
Easterlies and SW'lies cover the UK, due to a ridge from the east. A new
ridge builds from the west at T+144, bringing WNW'lies followed by light
winds for all at T+168.

NOGAPS: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/ng...20.europeg.gif
High pressure is centred to the east of Scotland with a ridge over the UK.
Winds are light for most, although moderate ENE'lies cover much of central
and southern England.

GEM: http://www.meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
The Canadian run shows light westerlies and SW'lies for much of the UK, with
high pressure to the south. A trough moves across Northern Ireland at T+144,
leading to SW'lies for most places.

JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.html
A ridge covers England and Wales, with SW'lies elsewhere. The winds become
southerlies at T+144 due to a secondary low SSW of Ireland, followed by more
of the same at T+168.

KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif
A WNW'ly flow is affecting the UK, with a trough over Scotland.

DWD: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...280000_120.gif
The UK lies under light winds due to a ridge from the east.

GM CPTEC: http://www.cptec.inpe.br/prevnum/Global126_sx6_Gl.shtml
Unavailable today.

MM5: http://rain.mmm.ucar.edu/mm5/plots/n...6hrn.hr120.gif
SW'lies cover the UK, with a ridge over the English Channel.

MM5 Snow forecast:
http://rain.mmm.ucar.edu/mm5/plots/n...snoc.hr120.gif
