Are there any comparable published figures for Barbourne?

Not that I am aware of. Ol' Damari seems to be keeping himself to himself
these days. You could contact him directly.

Correction to this data. The highest pressure recorded was 1026 mb on the
31st (all taken at 9am).

Barbourne is about 3.5 miles north of here, across the other side of the
City.

My readings seem comparable to others posted on this NG, such as those from
Epping, Cheltenham etc.

I have a friend who has a station in Selly Oak, Bham. His mean values are
usually around 2C lower than mine. We have swapped thermometers, altered
recording positions but the difference still remains. There is an altitude
difference but that does not explain it all. As for Coventry, I don't know
why yours are lower.

Did Paul Damari record higher values as well?

I have spoken to Philip Eden about my 'high' values. I do have a south
facing sheltered garden and he reckons that certain aspects can 'cook' on
sunny, calm days. This does not explain why my values are high at this time
of year when the sun's strength is weak, or the winter. My thermometers have
been calibrated and are the MetO approved sheathed min & max type placed in
a Stephenson Screen.

Suddenly realised you were referring to the 21.1C recorded on the 2nd.

Hmmm, does seem a little high. Most others post around 16-18C for that day.
I have no explanation, could be a mistake but I am usually very careful when
writing these things down.

It would be interesting to know what PD on the other side recorded......

Regards

Just gentle leg pulling Nick. I lived at Holt Heath for fifteen years and a
good friend lived in Barbourne. We always had a good chuckle about the
extravagant weather reports on BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester.

Not in terms of the monthly maximum.

Even so, something still sounds 'off'.

Hi Paul

Hmmm, I would have thought that my results would have been similar to yours
in Cheltenham but as you hint at, the maximums are rather high.

I have a couple of remote electronic thermometers which at the moment I
don't use. I will place them in the Stephenson Screen and compare the
readings with the mercury thermometers over the next few weeks.

I can't really place the screen itself anywhere better as it is away from my
house and isn't near any trees etc.
