Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Monday. Issued 0613z,
4/11/04. High pressure to the west looks like dominating our weather for the first half of next week (at least). The UK will lie under mild air that's travelled up and over the high, so thicknesses will be high; however patchy frost can't be ruled out if skies are clear by night. ECMWF: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Recm1201.gif A large high lies to the SW of the UK with a ridge over the British Isles. This leads to light NNW'lies, followed by NW'lies and northerlies as the high merges with another further west on day 6. The high builds to the west on day 7, resulting in westerlies for Scotland and ENE'lies over much of England and Wales. MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.html The MetO run also shows a large high, this time to the WSW of the UK. Scotland and Northern Ireland lie under NW'lies as a result, with NNW'lies elsewhere. The winds become northerlies for many at T+144 as the high builds to the west of Ireland. GFS: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Rtavn1201.gif Unavailable. GEM: http://www.meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html The Canadian run a ridge toppling over the UK, bringing northerlies and NNE'lies. 850hPa temperatures vary from +3C over SE England to +9C over Northern Ireland. The ridge sinks southwards at T+144, allowing NW'lies and WNW'lies to affect the UK. GME/DWD: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...040000_120.gif The UK lies under NW'lies, with high pressure to the west. JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.html The Japanese run brings a NNW'ly flow over the UK as the result of a high to the SW. The high moves NE'wards over Scandinavia at T+144, introducing a NE'ly flow over England and Wales. Day 7 sees NNE'lies for all as a new high moves eastwards, followed by more of the same for most on day 8. NOGAPS: http://129.13.102.67/wz/pics/ngp10.prp.120.europeg.gif A ridge is toppling over the UK, bringing westerlies, NW'lies and northerlies (along with 552dam air for most). GM CPTEC: http://www.cptec.inpe.br/prevnum/Global126_sx6_Gl.shtml Unavailable today. KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif Northerlies cover the UK due to a high to the NNW of Ireland. MM5: http://rain.mmm.ucar.edu/mm5/plots/n...6hrn.hr120.gif The UK lies under NW'lies, with a ridge to the west. MM5 Snow forecast: http://rain.mmm.ucar.edu/mm5/plots/n...snoc.hr120.gif No snow is expected to lie over the UK at T+120. |
